Welcome to Term 2! I hope your holiday break was filled with fun and adventures but also time for relaxation, and of course, reading! For those families who celebrated Easter, I hope it was a wonderful time with family and chocolate.
Wishing our Muslim families a joyous and peaceful Eid. Eid al-Fitr, the first day after Ramadan, falls on Tuesday 3 May. This is a holy time and brings Ramadan to an end. After a month of daylight fasting, with time spent in reflection and prayer, Eid al-Fitr is a time for celebration and feasting with family and friends.
During the holidays, we often get out of the routine of regular reading. At the start of term, make a plan to read to your children every day, and also listen to them read. Ask questions, talk about the pictures and story and encourage a love of books! You may do this in your home language as well as English.
Happy reading! Mrs Sasha Key (EALD Teacher – Monday and Tuesday)
