On 17 August 2018 Churchlands Primary School is hosting its annual STEAM Expo Open Day. STEAM activities incorporate outcomes from science, technology, engineering, art and maths. Parents and community members will be invited to attend the Expo to view a variety of creative projects completed by our students.
This year our STEAM investigations are aligned with the National Science Week theme of Game Changers and Change Makers. Our learning will focus on the scientists, engineers, technologists, mathematicians, designers and innovators of the past and present who have made, and are making, great improvements to the way we live.
In order to provide authentic links and contexts for our STEAM learning, we are inviting parents and other family members who work in these industries to present to our students on the day of the Expo. Presentations are planned to be between 11am and 1pm on Friday, 17 August (other times within week 5 may be negotiated) and will consist of a short presentation outlining your roles, responsibilities and passion for your profession and a short question and answer opportunity for the students.
If you are interested (or know another family member or friend that may be) in participating in this important opportunity, please notify your child’s classroom teacher to organise a time. You will then be provided an outline of the presentation format and guidelines.
Community involvement can have a significant positive impact on our student’s learning and therefore we truly appreciate your involvement in this event.
