When: August 23, 9.30am
Where: CPS Undercover area
As part of our Science week celebrations this year, Churchlands Primary school is very privileged and proud to announce a very special guest speaker. Professor Brian O’brien, a now Adjunct Professor of Physics at the University of Western Australia and a leading Environmental consultant, once played a critical role in the delivery of many NASA experiments. Most famously, Professor O’brien invented a dust-detecting device which was sent to the moon on the very first Apollo mission.
Professor O’brien, fresh in from a tour of the U.S. to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon landing, will be sharing with our students his specially prepared presentation – “Spaceship Earth and Environmental awareness, Apollo explorations and astronauts”.
Through the presentation, Professor O’brien will be sharing his journey, challenges he faced as a scientist, his experience on the Moon landing project and how science is playing a positive impact on environment sustainability.
As this is a very special, once off event, Professor O’brien would like to welcome parents, and grandparents, many of who would still have very clear memories of one of the greatest human expeditions in history.
You are invited to meet and listen to Professor Brian O’brien on Friday, 23 August, at the Churchlands Primary School undercover area. Professor O’brien will share his story for approximately 20 minutes before a short student question and answer session. It would be wonderful to see many of our grandparent community share this special meeting with our students.
Please find more information on Professor O’brien at his website www.brianjobrien.com/.
