Worms, worms, worms
This week two new worm farms arrived for the 9R shed. The worm farms are used to house over 15,000 worms. These worms eat our vegetable scraps from the canteen and they are very important for helping reduce our waste to landfill. Thank you to Chloe Mc and Ava E for caring for our worms each day.
Have you thought of a new name for the 9R shed? We are looking for community input into suggestions for a new name. Please send these through to S.Samsa@education.wa.edu.au
If you would like to be part of the parent committee assisting the revamping of the 9R shed, please contact Sheree Samsa on the above email.
Containers for Change
One of our 2020-2022 CPS business plan targets is to reduce our lunchtime waste. At CPS, the Containers for Change (C4C) collection program aims to increase recovery and recycling of beverage containers and reduce landfill and litter while providing a worthwhile fundraising opportunity. Each beverage container collected raises 10c for the school.
Students are encouraged to dispose of their used beverage containers at lunchtime (flavoured milks and juice boxes) into the Containers for Change bins. The collection of these containers not only helps to reduce our lunchtime waste but also raises funds for our highly valued Sustainability program. So far this year, our C4C program has raised 12% ($118) of this target.
Our goal is to raise $1000 by the end of the year. To achieve this goal, we appeal for your help. Your contribution of ANY beverage container from home that displays the 10c sign will help us achieve this target. It’s as easy as sending in a bag of 10 – 20 beverage containers. Collection points are outside Room 1 and outside Room 5.
Let’s get donating and watch our C4C meter grow to meet our target!
