Week 8 – Wednesday 15 June – Interschool Cross Country
Interschool Swimming Carnival
In Week 10 of Term 1, the CPS Interschool Swimming team competed in our cluster swimming carnival. It was a great team effort across all year levels and every swimmer should be extremely proud of how awesome they were. This year, a couple of schools were unable to compete, but that did not stop the event from being a huge success. Churchlands PS did an amazing job to finish 5th overall, with some impressive swimming across the team. CPS finished the day with 11 first places, 5 second places, and 3 third places. As a teacher, I am extremely proud of how all the swimmers conducted themselves in and out of the pool.
Interschool Winter Sports
Our Interschool Winter school sports is back in 2022!! CPS will be putting together two netball teams, one soccer and one football team to compete against our neighbouring schools for the 2022 Eagles Cup. In selection for the teams, Year 6 students get preference to fill the spots available and then after that, Year 5 will be invited to fill the remaining spots.
CPS will be competing on the following dates;
Week 5 – Friday 27 May vs City Beach at City Beach PS
Week 6 – Friday 3 June vs West Leederville at Churchlands PS
Week 7 – Friday 10 June vs Wembley Downs, Woodlands and Floreat Park – Netball A and soccer at Woodlands PS and football and netball B at Floreat Park PS.
More details will be announced once all teams have been selected and we get closer to the time of the fixtures.
Before and After School Activities
During the school term there will be activities happening every day of the week to keep your kids active before and after school. Over the next few weeks, you will see flyers promoting various activities, if you are interested please contact those organisations directly. There are a couple of school run activities that all kids are encouraged to attend; Running Club and student Circuit Training.
Running Club
Running Club is on Wednesday mornings starting at 8am. For new families to Churchlands PS, Running Club is where students run laps around the oval earning points for their faction.
Exercising in the mornings has many health benefits and is a great way to start the day.
Some benefits include:
- improved physical and mental energy
- a better night’s sleep
- help maintain a healthy weight
- reach your fitness goals and
- enhance your metabolism.
A reminder that mugs for Milo need to be placed on the table outside the undercover area before 8.15am. Milo is a reward for the effort put in during running club.
It is encouraged that students need to run at least 4 laps to get a Milo. Turning up late won’t allow enough time to 4 laps done in.
Can you please click on the link and fill in the attached form, so Mr Marshall can organise your QR code card before your FIRST running club. Kids of all ages are welcome to join in the fun, that is Running Club. Remember to bring your QR code to every session.
