As part of our HASS programme this semester, the students in Room 16 have learned about communities and ways in which they can assist people in their community. We thought it would be a nice idea to participate in the Christmas Kindness Kits, run by the Dandelion Charity, specifically for families in WA who need help at Christmas time. This involved the students supplying a shoe box in which they placed a number of essential items such as toothpaste/toothbrush, shampoo, conditioner, comb, brush, socks, thongs etc, as well as some optional items such as hats, toys and games. With help from their parents, the students really rose to the task and we ended up with a total of 42 boxes. On Tuesday, December 5th, Jan Lewsey from the Dandelion Charity came in and collected the boxes. She explained to the students that the boxes will be distributed to children in the days leading up to Christmas. She was extremely grateful for the amazing effort and presented the class with a certificate of appreciation.
