Neurodiversity Celebration Week 18th – 24th March

Education Assistants at CPS

It is not only our teachers at the front of the classroom, but our wonderful Education Assistants who are an integral part of the students journey here at CPS. Education Assistants support classroom teachers to deliver programs as well as providing guidance and assistance to those students at greatest need. EA’s carry out a range of roles, from 1-1 support, small group intervention, playground support, resource creation, supporting classroom management, lesson preparation and general classroom support.

Here are some of our wonderful assistants that work across the school to support the diverse needs of our students. These amazing ladies go above and beyond to ensure a positive and safe environment is provided for our students. Make sure you stop in and say hi, when you next see them. They do a fantastic job!

Neurodiversity Celebration Week

https://www.neurodiversityweek.com/

Neurodiversity is based on the idea that everyone has a differently-wired brain and their own unique way of thinking and experiencing the world.

Some of the different ways of thinking, learning, interacting, and perceiving the world have been given labels, such as:

  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC)
  • Dyslexia
  • Dyspraxia
  • Dyscalculia

What is Neurodiversity week about?

  • Neurodiversity Celebration Week is about celebrating the strengths and talents of people with learning differences.
  • Neurodiversity Celebration Week is one way of reminding everyone of the importance of being kind, tolerant and accepting of everyone.
  • Neurodiversity Celebration Week serves as a reminder that no matter what our differences and challenges, everyone also has their own strengths and talents.

What can we do to help?

  • Don’t tease or make fun of anyone in your class who is different or who is finding something difficult.
  • Instead, be kind, understanding and encouraging.
  • Never forget that you have the power to make a positive difference to someone who may be having a difficult time.

Focusing on success

Like many kids, these pros have ADHD. Click on the link to read more on how they succeeded.
