Interschool Cross Country
As you may know on Wednesday, it was the Interschool Cross Country. We had 12 kids from each year to represent Churchlands Primary School, 6 boys and 6 girls.
It was a great day, and every kid I saw had a smile, no matter what was happening. Everyone was cheering on the other runners like they were running in the Olympics, it was fantastic to see and hear. All students should be very proud of themselves.
Over the whole day and all year levels we had two podium finishes, Zara R in year 3 came third and Jesi A in year 5 came second.
These events are not possible without a lot of hard work. On that note, I would like to thank all the teachers that helped to coordinate the day. A special thanks to Mr O’Mara and Mr Marshall in particular.
Finally, a big thanks to all those parents who came along to support.

Interschool Soccer
Kian and I are honoured to share our reflections on our soccer journey throughout term 2. It has been a fantastic season filled with growth, teamwork, and unforgettable moments.
Firstly, we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Marshall for his unwavering support. Not only has he been an awesome coach, but he has also demonstrated fairness as a referee, which has made our games even more enjoyable and fair.
We also want to commend every player for their dedication and hard work on the field. Throughout the season, our team has shown incredible determination and resilience. We faced challenges head-on and grew stronger as a team with every game we played.
Moreover, we are proud to report that we have not only improved our skills but also embodied the true spirit of sportsmanship and strived to learn from our mistakes.
We are deeply thankful to our supporters for cheering us on and contributing to our motivation on the field!
Our team achieved some remarkable feats this season, from breathtaking goals to crucial saves. Each player has made a unique contribution to our success.

Once again, a big thank you to our parents and Mr. Marshall for organizing this wonderful opportunity for us. We also extend our gratitude to our teachers for their flexibility in allowing us to participate fully.

Interschool Netball
On behalf of the netball team, I would like to thank Ms Thompson, Miss Hunter, and Mr Howesmith. Thank you all for training and coaching us every Thursday leading up to our games, it has paid off. Thank you for the continued support and we have had so much fun over the past term.

The two netball teams from Churchlands had a very successful term, culminating in both teams winning overall in their divisions during the quadrangular tournament against Floreat Park, Woodlands, and Kapinara.
Ms Thompson, who has been part of the netball program at Churchlands Primary School for over 15 years, has made a significant impact on all the individuals she has worked with over the years. We wish her all the best for her future, spending time playing golf and enjoying her grandkids.
AFL Interschool Report
Attention Footy Fans – Here is your sports report from the AFL tournament held on Friday the 14th of June. Hosted by Floreat Primary, it was a challenging day on the field for your Churchlands team.
The opening game showed that the Floreat meant business, securing a strong win against Churchlands with a score of 14-61. We dug deep, but the kids with AFL legend dads made it clear that they were from good stock.
Churchlands followed up with a gutsy performance against sports school Kapinara. Unfortunately, we didn’t come home with the win, narrowly losing in heartbreaking fashion on the final whistle. However, it was a far more cohesive performance that showed we were real contenders. Confidence was on the rise with one game to play.
Evidently, we were indeed building and peaked against Woodlands, finally taking the win in an enjoyable game that rounded out a great tournament.
All in all, the team can hold their heads high. Skills have vastly improved over the competition, especially considering that only a handful of the team play Footy outside of school. Plenty of solid tackles, massive kicks, and cheer-worthy goals were scored for the enjoyment of all. None was better than the torpedo by Emmett from the sideline 25 meters out – a season highlight. Shout out to Josh for being a defensive menace and spending his day with his face in the opposition’s face. Special mention to Bianca for showing huge improvement during the season and for being a great team player every week.
The Best & Fairest was selected by the young WAFL umpires on the day and was awarded to Emmett B and Hunter H.
Thank you to all the teachers and parents who came down to support us this season; it’s been a pleasure representing the school. Special thanks to Mr. Flemming for investing his time and knowledge into the team and being a great, supportive coach.

Running Club
For new families to Churchlands PS, running club is where students run laps around the oval earning points for their faction. Exercising in the mornings has many health benefits and is a great way to start the day.
Some benefits include:
- improved physical and mental energy,
- a better night’s sleep,
- reach your fitness goals,
- enhance your metabolism.
This is a reminder that mugs for Milo must be placed on the table outside the undercover area before 8.25 am. Milo is an acknowledgement of the effort put in during running club.
It is encouraged that students need to run at least 5 laps to get a Milo. Turning up late won’t allow enough time to get 5 laps done.
