Over the holidays I was looking at international Art Education Blogs from Art Educators and came across this by Kathleen, Ms Artastic. I want to share with you this exert from her blog that is relevant to our students and our amazing school.
Ms Artastic, Teaching Strategies and Resources, Blog post January 18, 2020
She listed 10 reasons why arts integration is so important:
Creative thinking, Critical thinking, Problem- solving, Identity, Fine Motor Skills, Challenges, Visual Communication, Perseverance, Culture, Visual Learning.
Artist in Residence
Our Curtain university AIR, Liv, has started our mural with an undercoat. Many of the excited students thought she was putting on a layer of yoghurt. She bravely persevered even when the weather was damp and unpredictable.
BOOKWEEK and Art
The 2024 theme, Reading is Magic, invites art class to explore the ideas of fantasy, imagination, optical illusions, incredible characters, and storytelling. During Book week in week 6, 19-23 August our young artist’s work will be displayed around the school to support the celebration of reading and the short-listed books for this year.
This is the magnificent 2024 poster created by the artist Jess Raclyeft and © The Children’s Book Council of Australia.
Year two classes are focusing on the beautiful flower paintings of American artist Georgia O’Keefe. They observed the features of flowers that attract insects and incidentally help pollination. Enjoy these brilliant tissue collage paintings from room four.
Room five have started their floral creations this week. The look really happy with the process and look forward to working on them over the next few weeks.
