On Wednesday night, Sophia W (room 13) and Angela Q (room 9) represented CPS at the Rotary Interschool Speech Competition. Sophia and Angela were chosen by the year 6 teachers to represent CPS at the interschool competition after all year 6 students at CPS were tasked with researching, writing and delivering a 3 minute speech on a topic of their choice, while using the 4 question, Rotary Four Way Test to decide how their topic benefits humanity:
Is it the truth?
Is it fair to all concerned?
Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
With 6 schools competing, the standard was exceptionally high as the audience heard speeches covering a range of topics and all with their own unique style. Both students performed incredibly well as they passionately discussed their topics of Gender Equality (Sophia) and Zero Hunger (Angela) in front of a large audience.
In the end, Sophia was awarded a 2nd place award for her speech. A terrific result and one to be proud of.
Congratulations to both Sophia and Angela for representing Churchlands, a wonderful effort girls!
