My goodness, where did this year fly away to?
I have been busy putting our wonderful young artists’ portfolios together for you to enjoy and cherish. I am so proud and honoured to work with your children. From childbirth children grow through different stages. Babies kick their legs, rolling over, push forward and reach out, rock on hands and knees, crawl and stand up supported by someone or something, before they stagger, walk and run.
Picasso said, “It took me my whole life to learn to draw like a child”.
Maturity and development are our goals, however the style and manner children produce art is precious, for as we become older, we become more critical of our work and the work of others. Our students have all worked tirelessly throughout the year and their portfolios are a celebration. Art is not only the final product but the process these artists have gone through. During the process the students need to imagine, plan, experiment, change things, recover from ‘mistakes’, learn new techniques and products, adapt, analyse and BE KIND to themselves and to their peers. It is intense, exciting learning on many levels. Ask your children about their work and start the conversation. Enjoy!
Sculpture by the Sea 2025
Sadly, Sculpture by the Sea has been cancelled. I don’t know much about this decision, but I feel we could still hold our Sculpture by the School event next term, reinvented. Watch this space.
