Student Wellbeing Officer News – Term 1 Week 3

Dear Parents, Carers and the school community.

My name is Heather, and I’m excited to introduce myself as the new Student Wellbeing Officer. I am passionate about supporting the wellbeing of all students and helping them navigate challenges in a safe and supportive environment.

With a background in counselling and experience working with children and young people, I understand the importance of social and emotional wellbeing in helping students thrive both academically and personally.  My role is to offer support and guidance, help students build resilience and navigate challenges, develop positive relationships and promote positive mental health and wellbeing.

The role of the School Wellbeing Officer is part of an exciting new program and the role includes:

  • Facilitating small groups/workshops in areas such as resilience building, emotional regulation, anxiety and fostering positive friendships.
  • Individual informal support for students that is strengths-based, and solution focused.
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, parents, and carers to foster a supportive and inclusive school wellbeing environment.
  • Support for young people to access and connect with other services, identification of referral pathways.

I look forward to meeting your children, working alongside families and staff, and being a part of this wonderful school community.

The referral process goes through the classroom teacher or the Student Services Team (Jo Morgan/Lucy McNamara). Feel free to reach out if you need any assistance.

Yours in wellbeing,

Heather
