Art News – Term 4 Week 3

What is Happening in the art studio?

Wembley Downs Community Fair Saturday 26 October 2024

Thank you, Tammy Phillips, for taking over the management and lessons in the art room during week one this term while I spent valuable time with my family. Tammy’s enthusiasm and commitment was brilliant, and I could not have left my young artists in better hands. All the classes focused on the living environment of our school. Each year group looked at a different species from frogs by year six to Pre-primary/ year one artists drawing our chickens. Other classes looked at Western Australian Birds, Arthropods, Insects, and plants found in our school grounds. Plants from the flowering native plants to our bush tucker and vegetable gardens.

The Art Sparks decided on the drawings most suited to the banner and created a montage of the feathery, leafy and living features of our school environment. We are so lucky to have beautiful green and maintained school grounds.

All students were invited to paint some of the mural and add their fingerprint or thumb print to the negative space (background), pulling the work together. Mark Tissiman, our hard-working gardener, Mrs Idle, Mr O Mara, Mr Howesmith, Mrs Taylor and I added thumb prints to the composition.

Please go to the Wembley Downs Fair, Luita Street Reserve, on Saturday 26 October to admire and take a photograph with our banner to share next week in class and support our Churchlands primary performers.
