Next Monday, September 19, Churchlands Primary School will participate in the second annual Churchlands Network Interschool STEAM Challenge – Keen2STEAM.
We will be joined by Woodlands and Wembley Primary Schools for a day of critical thinking and problem solving, in a friendly but competitive environment.
Prior to the event, we ran a selection process where students from years 3 to 6 teamed up and tried their luck (and applied their skill, knowledge and teamwork) in a set challenge task. Teams were scored on teamwork, planning, problem solving and effectiveness of their solutions. Congratulations to those students who earned a place this year!
This year’s challenges are based around the theme of SHARKS – the secondary topic for this year’s Science Week learning. Dr Bruce Webber, from the CSIRO, and Amanda Elizabeth, Biological Scientist, will be our special guests this year, sharing their knowledge and engagement on a couple of Shark related topics.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mrs Goodwin and Mrs Morgan for their hard work and fantastic organisation in supporting our students to be ready for this great event!
We wish our students the very best for Monday, and I am looking forward reporting how it all goes in the next newsletter.
