Library News – Term 4 Week 9

As we reach the end of another wonderful year, it’s time to reflect on the highlights and accomplishments of 2024 in the library.

This year, our students collectively borrowed an impressive 24,705 books! An increase of over 2,000 books from last year’s total! This incredible number reflects our students’ enthusiasm for reading and learning. Whether they were exploring new worlds in fiction, uncovering facts in non-fiction, or diving into graphic novels, it’s been heartening to see our library buzzing with activity.

If your child still has an overdue book, please reach out to discuss this with the school if you have not done so already. Payments for missing books close today, 6th December. Please do not transfer funds for missing books after this date.

Our students embraced the Premier’s Reading Challenge with enthusiasm, setting personal reading goals and achieving fantastic results. Congratulations to all participants for your dedication—you’ve truly made us proud!

Book Week was a standout event, highlighted by the visit from acclaimed author and illustrator James Foley. His engaging storytelling sessions and creative workshops inspired students to think like authors and illustrators, sparking ideas for their own stories.

Our annual Book Fair was another remarkable success, bringing the joy of book shopping to students and families. A big thank you to all the parents for your time and effort in transforming the library into an enchanted forest, it was truly amazing!  And to everyone who supported this event— your purchases help us keep the library collection fresh and exciting.

A huge thank you to our Year 5 and 6 Library Officers, who have played an essential role in the smooth running of the library this year. From shelving books to assisting younger students with borrowing, their dedication, leadership, and enthusiasm have been deeply appreciated. You have truly made a difference in making the library a welcoming and inclusive space for everyone!

We also extend our heartfelt thanks to the fabulous P&C for their continued support throughout the year. Your generous funding has allowed us to expand our collection, introduce new resources, and host events that inspire a lifelong love of reading.

As we prepare for 2025, we are excited about new titles and programs coming to the library, and we encourage all students to keep reading over the holidays! Remember, books are gateways to adventure, knowledge, and imagination.

Thank you for a fantastic year of reading and learning at Churchlands Primary School. Wishing you all a safe and happy holiday season!
