Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) @ CPS
Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) is a whole school framework which helps schools to create a positive learning environment. Our school values guide the behaviour of everyone in our school: staff, students, parents and community members. This is achieved by developing proactive systems to define, teach and support appropriate student behaviour. At Churchlands we strive to show Respect, Resilience, we Engage and we Excel. A Behaviour Expectation Matrix, formulated by the school, articulates what these expectations look like in everyday school life. A number of verbal, non-verbal and tangible responses are used to reinforce students who display the desired behaviour.
There is a dedicated PBS team appointed in the school which consists of the administration, classroom teachers, specialist teachers, education assistants and community members. However, the entire staff at Churchlands Primary is committed and involved in the design and implementation of PBS.
The team meet on a regular basis.
Team leader is Lucy McNamara and internal coach is Joanna Morgan.
