Sustainability News – Term 4 2024

SUSTAINABILITY NEWS (Term 4 2024)

Churchlands Primary School was represented by Mr Johnson and Mrs Samsa at the WASTESORT annual seminar held on Tuesday 17th September at the Bendant Centre in Wembley.

Mrs Samsa presented an overview of our program to other teachers from around the state. It was an incredibly interesting evening seeing what other schools do to reduce waste in their school.

Churchlands Primary received their accreditation for being a current Wastesorted School. 2024/25

The current YEAR 4 students ALL have an opportunity to nominate themselves for a position on the SUSTAINABILITY team for 2025. There are sign up sheets in room 5. Once the students nominate themselves, they will be given a job to do next year and be part of the team in 2025. It is a big role to be an environmental officer, as students give up some of their free time to help care for our school. Once students are part of the program, they have committed themselves for a year. Please discuss with your child if this is an opportunity that they would like, and if so, then a form can be picked up from room 5. There is a weekly meeting on TUESDAYS that all officers must attend at lunchtime. These meetings are an opportunity to discuss relevant environmental programs around the school. Part of the position is to feed chickens, collet contains for change, composting and shredding.

Thank you

Mrs Samsa
